Universal Coatings UK @ Camden Town

Recently the Universal Coatings team have been part of a refurbishment project in one of the most unique areas in London - Camden town!

Just on the corner of the iconic Camden Market, the Camden Town rail bridge was in need of refinishing to keep it looking fresh, under normal circumstances, thousands of people walk under this bridge as they take in the sights and unique environment the area has to offer.

The rail bridge spans the main road junction where Chalk Farm Road meets and then changes to Camden High street, as a busy and vital transport route the necessitated the team could only work during the night whilst road could be closed.

This allows us to access the structural surface that needed to be first cleaned and prepared, before being primed and painted. Alongside the team working through the night, we have also taken delivery of various sections of the bridge to our facility at Misterton where we can prepare and paint before returning to the site for refitment.

It is always a pleasure to have a hand in familiar structures especially one is such an iconic area, traditionally welcoming over 500,000 visitors every single week and a stone's throw away from the 'Roundhouse' - a converted steam engine repair shed that opened in the '60s with the areas first major music event hosting Pink Floyd.

Other artists that have performed here include Jimi Hendrix, Elton John, Blur, Pulp, The Doors, The Sex Pistols, Amy Winehouse, Kings of Leon, Madness and Oasis.

Also worth noting that in 2017 Taylor Swift came all the way here just for a kebab!
