Preparation
Preparation is of vital importance to any coating application in order to achieve the best possible adhesion and finish. Universal Coatings UK Ltd pride themselves on this aspect of their work. We are constantly updating our procedures so that we are using the latest and most innovative equipment and material that is available to us.
Open blasting-ISO 8501-1
Any type of blasting should be to a recognized standard depending on which coating is being applied.
ISO 8501-1
- SA1-Cleansing of the surface that is being coated
- SA2-Removal of any coatings already applied to surface
- SA2.5-To prepare to nearly white metal
- SA3-To fully prepare to white metal
Controlled blasting
Controlled blasting is ideal for warehouse floor and decking, where dust or debris would be an issue.
Different consumables i.e. grit or shot can be used to achieve the required profile for the work being undertaken.
STR floor grinder
This can be used for minimum preparation of surfaces and generally used to etch an existing coating. It can also remove low quality coverings.
Primers
We use and supply a range of primers, suitable for all applications. i.e. Two pack, moisture cures, barrier coats and numerous others.
Acid Etch
Acid Etches can be used for a numerous of applications, they are good for deeply cleansing the surface and leaving an etched finish, a typical use for acid etch is for aluminium and galvanized surfaces where there is a greasy surface that needs to be removed.
